Pola Negri – a world-famous Polish movie star. This sentence is the shortest way to describe the essence of the project of an international silent movie presentation with live music. The European production befitting the beginning of the 20th century: a Polish actress, a Hungarian director, a German producer – a film relic on archaic nitrate tape long thought to be irrevocably lost – and the cutting edge technology from the beginning of the 21st century; these are the components of this unique endeavour. The music composed just for this occasion by maestro Jerzy Maksymiuk, performed by the Wrocław Leopoldinum orchestra, adds the final touch to the enormous effort that the team of Filmoteka Narodowa (National Film Archive) put into restoring the movie to a form viewable for the modern film lovers in Warsaw, Paris, Madrid, London, Kiev, Berlin and …let us hope, many other places in the world.
